MONROE — The Chiefs topped out at 11 Wednesday.
East Jay Middle School’s eighth grade girls basketball team fell 25-11 to the host Adams Central Jets. The seventh graders lost 28-11.
Bella Denton was the top Chief scorer as she totaled six points for the eighth graders (4-2). Breanna Dirksen added four points, and Cash Hollowell scored one.
Daisy Muhlenkamp’s five points led the way for the seventh grade squad (4-2). Cassie Petro finished with four points, and Jenna Dues had two.
LeFevre wins
Fort Recovery High School graduate Robby LeFevre wasted no time picking up his first win as he took the top spot Friday for the hosts in the Fordham Christmas Track and Field Invitational.
LeFevre, FRHS class of 2019, dominated the meet-opening 200-meter dash to win by three-quarters of a second in 22.79 over teammate Manu Guzman. He was also the runner-up in the 60 dash in 7.08 seconds, just one hundredth of a second behind Guzman.
He also teamed with Christopher Strzelinski, Dylan Serino and William Whelan to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 3 minutes, 28.16 sceonds.
Bader takes second
OXFORD, Ohio — Alex Bader, a 2018 Jay County High School graduate, finished second in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events to help the Ball State University women’s swim team to a third-place finish Saturday in the five-team Miami Invitational.
Bader’s runner-up time of 1 minute, 3.8 seconds, in the 100 breaststroke trailed teammate Lexi McDonald by 0.2 seconds. She posted a time of 2:18.08 for her runner-up effort in the 200 breaststroke.
She also teamed with Apsara Sakbun, Shelby Crist and Audrey Schank for second in the 400 medley relay in 3:45.08.
Alex’s sister Sophie placed 12th for the Cardinals in the 200 individual medley and 13th in the 100 butterfly.
Their cousin Anne Vormohr, who graduated from JCHS in 2016, was fifth in the 200 backstroke, eighth in the 100 backstroke and 14th in the 50 freestyle.
Ault starting
Hanna Ault, a 2018 Jay County High School graduate, grabbed a pair of rebounds Saturday for the Anderson University women’s basketball team in a 69-56 loss to Trine. She also had an assist in the defeat.
Ault has started all seven games for the Ravens (2-5) this season. She is averaging 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
