Deer hit
Two car-deer accidents occurred Thursday within the course of an hour.
About 8:25 p.m. Hanna M. Dillon, 18, Portland, was eastbound on county road 400 South near county road 800 West in Jefferson Township when a deer ran into the path of the 2004 Chrysler Sebring she was driving.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
About 9:20 p.m. Thomas J. King, 32, Redkey, was eastbound on county road 200 South near Boundary Pike in Wayne Township when a deer ran into the path of his 2012 Honda Civic.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000,
A third car-deer accident happened about 7:30 a.m. Friday on county road 250 West near county road 600 South in Pike Township. Penny A. Baughn, 58, Ridgeville, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was northbound on 250 West in her 2016 Chevrolet Equinox when a deer ran into the roadway.
Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Stolen
George Phelps, 128 E. Baker St., reported to Portland police Thursday the theft of a Troy-Bilt rototiller from his property. The tiller was originally valued at $270 when it was purchased 12 years ago.
Hits the King
An unknown vehicle ran into the east side of the Portland Burger King, 1610 N. Meridian St., about 4:25 p.m. Friday then left the scene.
Damage to the building was estimated at less than $1,000.
Hit while parked
A Portland man’s 2012 Dodge Durango was hit while parked behind Portland Motor Parts, 401 N. Meridian St., about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The Dodge, registered to Matthew Glentzer, sustained between $2,500 and $5,000 when hit by an unknown vehicle which left the scene.
To inspect
Indiana Michigan Power will be conducting aerial inspections in Jay and Adams counties next week.
Inspections using a helicopter will begin Monday and run throughout the week.
The helicopter will fly about 50 to 100 feet above lines during the process.
