A trio of Patriots continued their hot streaks and got enough help for the team to come away with a win.

Mason Winner, Ethan Reiley and Zakk Atkins all extended their unbeaten records and Cooper Jacks also added a pin Tuesday as the Jay County Hight School wrestling team topped the visiting Parkway Panthers 42-36.

Winner, Reiley and Atkins were all coming off undefeated performances in the Allen County Athletic Conference Duals on Friday and Saturday, and all three delivered pins. Winner, the third-ranked 182-pounder in the state, finished off Hayden Ridenour in 1 minute, 37 seconds. Reiley (113) scored his victory over Skyler Fokine in 2:53, and Atkins pinned Collin Fokine in 4:37.

Jacks needed just 36 seconds to defeat Billy Popp at 220 pounds.

Other contested victories for the Patriots came from Ben Hunter (138) by a 15-5 major decision, Camron Gage (145) thanks to a disqualification and Garrett Mann (160) by a 7-6 decision.

Winning junior varsity matches for JCHS were Lita Chowning (120), Sebastian Jones (132) and Daidrick Retz (138).

Boys basketball falls

YORKTOWN — Turnovers proved costly Tuesday as the Jay County boys basketball team suffered its fourth straight loss by a 41-35 score to the Yorktown Tigers.

The Patriots (2-4) broke out of their first-quarter slump with 13 points to take the lead and had a five-point advantage through three quarters. But they turned the ball over nine times in the fourth as Yorktown (3-3) rallied for the win.

Brayden Sprunger, Noah Arbuckle and Ethan Dirksen each had eight points for Jay County.

The Patriot junior varsity team edged Yorktown 26-25 led by Gavin Myers’ nine points. The freshman team won 45-33 behind 14 points from Josh Dowlen.
