William Byrd

William "Bill" L. Byrd, 83, passed away Dec. 14, 2019, in Petersburg, Indiana.
He was born on June 18, 1936, to Earl and Nellie Byrd. He graduated from Madison Township School and he also served in the National Guard and he was a retired farmer.
On Dec. 5, 1997, he married Wanda Wade [Brewster}. They were married for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Byrd; sons, James Byrd, Winchester, Indiana, David Byrd, Elwood, Indiana, and Ron Byrd, Brookston, Indiana; daughters Diana Dull, Winchester, Indiana, and Karen Byrd Hardin, Louisville, Kentucky; sisters Mildred and Alice; brothers John Byrd, Ohio, and Junior Byrd; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepchildren Tara Summers, Stan Brewster and Michelle Watjen; seven step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Byrd.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 19, from noon to 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home with service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery.
