Donald Gene Moden, age 83, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at State of the Heart Care in Wayne Hospital in Grenville, Ohio.
He was born on Nov. 12, 1936, in Celina, Ohio, to the late Henry Robert and Dorothy Velma (Ebright) Moden. On June 12, 1957, he married Donna Jeanne Grapner, who died on Dec. 14, 2019.
Survivors include his three children, Mark Alan (Kim) Moden of St. Marys, Ohio, Richard Eugene (Jennifer) Moden of Coshocton, Ohio, and Rebecca Sue (Terry) Roberts of Ridgeville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Trevor Moden, Dalton Moden, Konnor Moden, Jeff Roberts, Erika Roberts-Beitler and Mitchel Roberts; four great-grandchildren, Keaten Roberts, Kaylyn Roberts, Zavier Roberts and Adalyn Moden; brother and sister-in-law Bill (Martha) Moden of Oak Grove, Louisiana; sister Norma Moden of Celina; two sisters-in-law, Imogene Lawhead and Rose Marie Grapner both of Portland; and a brother-in-law, Delbert Tangeman of Ducan, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Julie Ann Moden; brother Richard (Rosalie) Moden; sister Betty Tangeman; and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Grapner and Tom Lawhead.
Donald was a graduate of Celina High School and formerly employed at Mersman Brothers Furniture, New Idea, Leader Seeds and Stewart Seed, and was currently employed at Walmart in Celina. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the former Montezuma Church of Christ in Montezuma, Ohio. He was an elder at the Church from 1974 until 2019, a deacon and a trustee for 20 years.
A combined funeral service for Donna and Donald will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina with the Rev. Lowell Roberts and Cliff Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, at the funeral home and an hour before services on Monday.
