Donations surpass $18,000
More than $18,000 went to Fort Recovery area charities in 2018.
Fort Recovery Combined Charities recently released its report for the year, showing total donations of $18,589. That was down by $5,044 from 2017.
The largest donation totals among the 15 charities involved were $2,279 to Cancer Association of Mercer County and $2,115 to the Center for Neurological Development. Charities surpassing the $1,000 mark were State of the Heart ($1,867), Fort Recovery Community Foundation ($1,639), Mercer County Right to Life ($1,630), Fort Recovery Historical Society ($1,324), Fort Recovery Friends of the Library ($1,266) and Fort Recovery Academic Boosters ($1,145).
Other groups receiving donations were Fort Recovery 4-H ($926), Fort Recovery Boy Scouts ($844), Fort Recovery Girl Scouts ($761), Big Brothers/Big Sisters ($577) and Our Home Family Resource Center ($451).
Learn about Ivy
Ivy Tech Community College will hold two Go Ivy Day events this month.
The events are designed for prospective students to learn more about Ivy Tech. Topics will including admissions, financial aid, orientation and career services.
Events are slated for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maring-Hunt Library, 2005 S. High St., Muncie, and 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 at Kennedy Library, 1700 W. McGalliard Road, Muncie.

Offering support
IU Health Blackford will host an organ transplant support group that will meet at 3 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in the hospital’s main conference room.
The group is open to patients who have had a transplant or are on a waiting list, along with their caregivers and others who support them.
