FORT RECOVERY — The Indians had to come from behind in the second half to win on Tuesday.
Two days later, against a conference rival, such was not the case.
A 17-point second quarter helped Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team defeat the Marion Local Flyers, 46-30 at Fort Site Fieldhouse.
With back-to-back victories, Fort Recovery improves to 8-9 on the season and 2-5 in Midwest Athletic Conference play. Marion Local is also 8-9 (2-5 MAC).
The Indians trailed 10-8 at the end of the first quarter before having their best offensive output before halftime.
A Kierra Wendel field goal early in the second tied the score, and the Tribe scored the next seven points as well to complete a 9-0 run for a 17-10 advantage. FRHS went into halftime leading 25-16, and were ahead by 10 with one quarter to play.
Val Muhlenkamp had 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead all players in both categories. Alli Vaughn and Brooke Kahlig scored nine points each, while Paige Fortkamp and Wendel had six points each.
The Indians stay at home as they host Mississinawa Valley at 1 p.m.?Saturday, and they continue MAC?play on Thursday by traveling to St.?Henry to take on the Redskins (10-7, 4-3 MAC).
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team lost, 41-35. Macy Day and Hope Wendel led the way with seven points each, and Faith Grube collected five points.
Rammel lifts Tribe
FORT RECOVERY — Cale Rammel hit a buzzer beater to give the Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team a 31-30 victory over the Marion Local Flyers on Thursday.
The seventh graders also won, 36-15.
Rammel led all players with 22 points, including the last-second shot to lift his team to victory over its Midwest Athletic Conference rival.
In the seventh grade contest, Troy Homan paced FRMS with 16 points, and Rex Leverette chipped in seven points. Lyndon Brinkerhoff got in the action with six points.
