Jerry Wishon

Jerry Wishon, age 77, of Portland passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at his residence.

He was born in Portland on Jan. 1, 1942, the son of Charles and Lavon (Shaneyfelt) Wishon. He was married Nov. 19, 1961, to Nancy Snyder who survives.

He had worked for Marsh Supermarkets and Vernon Company in sales, retiring in 2004.

He was a member of Portland Elks Lodge and Jayland Antique Car Club. He was a golfer and enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Nancy; one son, Greg Wishon (wife: Cindi) of Carmel, Indiana; two daughters, Jennie Avila of Littleton, Colorado, and Amy Bowman of Indianapolis; and five grandchildren, Adam Wishon, Sam Wishon, Alex Avila, Evan Avila and Ethan Bowman.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor John Smith presiding. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Family Life Care, Jay County Humane Society or the choice of the donor.
