Weather training to be held Tuesday
Just a couple of weeks after the Midwest experienced extreme weather conditions, local residents will have an opportunity to become weather spotters.
Jay County Emergency Management will host a Skywarn Spotter Training session at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium at Jay County Courthouse.
The training will be presented by Michael Lewis of the National Weather Service.

Elected
Jay County Historical Society elected Phil Rager and Rob Weaver as co-presidents for 2019 during its January board meeting.
Claudia Jones was elected first vice president, and former co-presidents Larry Hiatt and Kay Locker will serve as second co-vice presidents. Jane Spencer and Judy Zearbuagh were re-elected as secretary and treasurer, respectively.
The organization’s next board meeting is 9 a.m. Thursday.
Offering
Purdue Cooperative Extension Services and Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition will host the Strengthening Families Program for families with children between the ages of 10 and 14 years old.
The seven-week program will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays starting Feb. 11 at Trinity United Methodist, 323 S. Meridian St.
The class is free but registration by Feb. 7 is required by calling (260) 726-4707 or emailing [email protected].
