Bobby Wendel
Bobby W. Wendel, 87, of Bryant, Indiana, (New Corydon) passed away at 2:35 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.
He was born on Sunday, Sept, 27, 1931, in Clinton County, Indiana. He married Virginia (Leininger) Wendel on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1950, in New Corydon Lutheran Church.
Bobby was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson Township School, Adams County, Indiana. He attended the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bryant, Indiana. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.
Bobby was a paint finisher and retired from New Idea in Coldwater, Ohio, after over 40 years of service. He was a member of the VFW and United Steel Workers Union. He coached Little League Baseball and all stars for several years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and trapping.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Virginia (Leininger) Wendel, Bryant, Indiana; daughter Linda K. Laux, Coldwater, Ohio; sons James Robert (Carol) Wendel, Bryant, Indiana, Jeffery Duane (Diane) Wendel, Mt. Pleasant, Indiana, David Dean (Carla) Wendel, Fort Recovery, Ohio, and Dennis Eugene Wendel, New Corydon, Indiana; grandchildren Jill Jenkins, Coldwater, Ohio, Lisa Stewart, Coldwater, Ohio, Steven Wendel, Bryant, Indiana, Bradley Wendel, Bryant, Indiana, John Wendel, Bryant, Indiana, Craig Wendel, Kansas City, Missouri, Keith Wendel, Bryant, Indiana, Stephanie Jacobs, Alexandria, Indiana, Justin Wendel, Coldwater, Ohio, Hannah Wendel, Fort Recovery, Ohio, Hunter Wendel, Fort Recovery, Ohio, and Holden Wendel, Fort Recovery, Ohio; brother Jack (Joan) Wendel, New Corydon, Indiana; sister Betty Patch, Geneva, Indiana; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Vilas W. Wendel; mother Velda L. (Wyant) Wendel; brother James Wendel; and sister Judy Wendel.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, with Martin Bornhoeft officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
