Mara Bader got a pair of wins.
The team suffered a pair of defeats.
Jay County’s middle school swim teams both lost to the visiting Norwell Knights on Monday.
The girls team fell 195-105, and the boys had a 221-73 setback.
Bader’s wins came in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 freestyle.
Morgan DeHoff was second in both the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, and Maddy Snow was the runner-up in diving.
For the boys, Wyatt Kunkler finished second in the 400 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle, and Nick Lyons placed second in diving.
The girls 200 medley relay of Abby Johnson, Hannah Laux, Avalyne Carter and Snow was the runner-up. The same was the case with the 200 freestyle relay team of Aubrey Millspaugh, Bader, Carter and DeHoff.
Millspaugh, Bader, DeHoff and Johnson teamed to take second in the 300 freestyle relay.
Timo Minnich, Cohen Henry, Joseph Dow and Kunkler finished second in the 300 freestyle.
Athletes honored
Numerous Jay County High School athletes were honored for their achievements in the classroom as they received academic all-state accolades from their respective coaching associations.
Clare Dirksen, Shelby Caldwell and Kendal Garringer all received academic all-state nods from the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
Nominees must be a senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, a SAT score of 1110 on the critical and math or a minimum ACT composite score of 24 and participate in more than half of a team’s contests.
Seven wrestlers were named academic all-state by the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association.
Cooper Jacks was named first-team as a junior, while classmates Garrett Mann and Nevaeh Cox were honorable mention.
Chandler Chapman, Thomas Hemmelgarn, Dawson Frasher and Lucas Schmit were given honorable mention as seniors.
IHSWCA nominees must have a 3.25 GPA and be a sectional participant.
