Jay County Robotics had its warmup for the state event Saturday as it competed at Madison-Grant in an event that featured the top teams from Indiana’s northern region.
The team of Ryne Goldsworthy, George Weesner and Ben Heath continued to lead Jay County’s middle school competitors. They finished in third place after qualifying seventh. They were also fourth in the skills competition.
Rose Carter, Gabe Pinkerton and Duston Muhlenkamp finished in fifth place after qualifying 10th. Also making the top 10 were the teams of Austyn LeMaster, Kayleigh Brooks and Rose Carter, Ty Paxson and Nathan Lothridge, and Jaiden Watson and Landon Weaver.
The 2019 VEX IQ Middle School State Championship is March 9 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Prepare for pops
Jay County High School Patriot Band will have its Mid-Winter Pops Concert at 2 p.m. on Feb. 24 in the school’s auditorium. The band will play a variety of music, including songs from musicals West Side Story and Les Misérables and the rock group Chicago.
Admission is free. The high school is located at 2072 W. Indiana 67, Portland.
Learn about Ivy
Ivy Tech Community College will hold a Go Ivy Day event this month.
The event is designed for prospective students to learn more about Ivy Tech. Topics will including admissions, financial aid, orientation and career services. It is slated for 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Kennedy Library, 1700 W. McGalliard Road, Muncie.

Swiss Village’s Arthur & Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion will host a movie and popcorn event for those 55 and older at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The event will feature the Movie “War Room.” It is open to members and non-members.
