The Jay County High School Academic Team picked up a pair of first-place finishes in competition Tuesday at Randolph Southern.
Catherine Stafford played a part in both wins, teaming with Caitlynn Miller and Ava Stockton for first place in English. She also joined Jackson Lyons and Dillon Muhlenkamp in winning the social studies competition.
Jay County’s fine arts team of Ethan Andreshak, Mary Hartman and Liz Stewart placed second in the field of five teams.
JCHS will compete again Monday at Connersville.
Registration set
Fort Recovery pre-school registration for the 2019-20 school year is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 26 in the elementary/middle school auditeria.
Those attending will need to bring their child’s birth certificate, immunization record and Social Security card. The child does not need to attend.

Demo scheduled
Fort Recovery Public Library will host an instant pot demonstration with Alison Homan at 6 p.m. Feb. 26.
Homan will offer tips on how to make quick meals with the kitchen appliance. She will share two soup recipes that can be done in 30 minutes or fewer.
FAFSA help
Prospective college students can get free assistance filling out financial aid documents Sunday.
“College Goal Sunday” events will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday to help students and their families fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial aid experts will be on hand to assist with the applications.

•Ivy Tech Community College — Fort Wayne, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd.

Performing
Taylor University will present the play “Metamorphoses” beginning Friday.
Shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, as well as 8 p.m. March 1 and 2 and 2 p.m. March 3. The play is based on the poem by Ovid.
