Fiber Arts festival is coming
The annual celebration of the fiber arts is right around the corner.
Jay County Visitors and Tourism Bureau will host the Jay County Fiber Arts Festival March 8 and 9 at Jay Community Center.
The event will feature a class with Kate Larson, the author of “The Practical Spinner’s Guide: Wool.” Her work has appeared in “Spin-Off” and “Jane Austen Knits.”
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 8 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 9, with activities including storytelling and recycle craft. Vendors and demonstrators will be working with wool, mohair, angora, flax, alpaca, cotton and silk.

Offering help
Free tax help will be available at Adams Public Library’s Geneva location over the next few months.
AARP tax-aide volunteers will be at the library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 18 and April 8 to help people prepare their Indiana State and Federal tax forms.
Those wishing to take advantage of the sessions should bring their tax return from 2018; Social Security cards and birth dates of all names listed on the tax return; all W2s, 1099s and other tax statements from 2018; receipts for deductions; rent receipts if claiming a renter’s deduction; care provider’s information for child and dependent care expenses; amounts and dates of each payment of estimated taxes during 2018; and a voided check or savings account routing numbers for direct deposit of refund.

Registration set
Fort Recovery pre-school registration for the 2019-20 school year is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 26 in the elementary/middle school auditeria.
Those attending will need to bring their child’s birth certificate, immunization record and Social Security card. The child does not need to attend.

Classes available
Mercer Health in Coldwater, Ohio, is several classes in March.
On March 5, there will be a big brother/big sister class at 7 p.m. Childbirth education classes are scheduled for 6 p.m. March 6, 13, and 20, and a breastfeeding class will be held at 6 p.m. March 7.
Enrollment set
Kindergarten enrollment for Jay School Corporation will be held April 2 at Bloomfield Elementary School, April 3 at Redkey and Westlawn, and April 4 at East. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m.
Students are welcome to attend the events at Bloomfield, Redkey and Westlawn and participate in a separate program while their parents are handling enrollment. Because of the number of students expected, parents are asked not to bring children to the enrollment session at East.
Seeking nominees
LifeStream Services is seeking nominations for its LifeStream Golden Hoosier Award.
The award is open to anyone 65 or older who lives in the LifeStream service area, which includes Jay, Blackford, Delaware and Randolph counties.
Nominees should have at least three years of volunteer experience.

The deadline is March 15.
