Raymond Addington
March 14, 1939-Dec. 31, 2018
Raymond P. “Sonny” Addington, passed away on Dec. 31, 2018, at St. Luke Community Hospital in Ronan, Montana, surrounded by his family.
Sonny was born in Randolph County, Indiana, on March 14, 1939, to Raymond L. Addington and Eileen McClure. He attended Madison Township High School and Portland High School.
Sonny’s early years were spent on the family farm. He followed in his father’s footsteps, always wanting to be a truck driver. He began his lifelong career at the age of 17. His lifelong passion was sitting in the cab of his semi. With his friendly outgoing nature, he touched the lives of many as he traveled six million accident-free miles coast to coast.
Sonny was an active member of clubs, including Masons, Scottish Rite, Royal Arch Masons, Bagdad Shrine, Jesters, Order of Eastern Star and Elks. He was potentate of Bagdad Shrine in 2001 and held various other positions.
Sonny enjoyed time with his family, driving, donating time to charities, watching old westerns — especially John Wayne movies — and playing card games.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law; a step-daughter; and four grandchildren.
He is survived by Fay, his wife of 30 years; siblings Deola (Glen) Bond, Linda Sue Chapman, Mary Lou Beltz and Johnny Addington; children Monica (Steve) Lloyd, Liane (Kevin) Clairmont, Ramonda (Anthony) Morency, Stephen Addington, Chris Tomayer, Al (Chris) McKay, Dee McKay, Bud (Crystal) McKay; son-in-law Dan Clairmont; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service was held Jan. 12 at the Masonic Temple located Polson, Montana.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 911 W. 5th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99204.
