Donald Sutton

Donald W. Sutton, age 78, a resident of Portland, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2018, at his home.

He was a 1958 graduate of Portland High School and joined the United States Marine Corps, serving for six years. He retired from Teledyne Portland Forge after 40 years. 

After retirement he also enjoyed woodworking in his shop at home.

He was a member of the Portland American Legion Post 211.

Donald was born May 2, 1940, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Shull) Sutton. He was married on Feb. 2, 1963, to Toni DuJardin.

His beloved wife — Toni Sutton, Portland, Indiana 

Two sons — Rocky Sutton (wife: Esther), Valparaiso, Indiana, and Mitch Sutton (wife: Amy), Portland, Indiana

One brother — Randy Sutton (wife: Joan), Celina, Ohio 

Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son Jeff Andrew Sutton; two brothers, Perry Sutton and Robert Sutton; and a sister, Joann Eley. 

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Eads officiating the service. Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military rites at the funeral home.

Private burial will follow at a later date at Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
