Nomination period is open
Is there a Fort Recovery resident who has gone above and beyond the call of duty for their community? If so, there is an opportunity to give the recognition that is deserved.
Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its Citizen of the Year and Hall of Fame awards.
Those interested in submitting a nomination can do so at frchamber.org or by picking up a form at Fort Recovery Village Hall, Fort Recovery Public Library or Fort Recovery Post Office. The deadline is Feb. 3.

Holding contest
Jay County Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with the Walmart Foundation to sponsor an innovation competition for Jay County High School students.
The competition offers students the opportunity to design and present a new or improved invention or innovation. The process will include workshops during school hours and time with mentors to help bring ideas to reality.
Projects will be presented during a Community Innovation Fair during school hours on May 3.
The grand prize for the competition is $500. The runner-up will receive $250, and the second runner-up will get $100.

Fun night set
Jay Community Center will host its annual Family Fun Night at 6 p.m. Jan. 25 at the facility at 115 E. Water St., Portland.
The event will feature a comedy show as the main entertainment. There will also be free pizza, and the concession stand will be open for other purchases.
Admission to Family Fun Night is free with a non-perishable food item as a donation.
