David Hovenstine

David Thomas Hovenstine, age 59, of Portland passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at IU Health Jay.

He was born Oct. 31, 1959, in Rome, New York, the son of David Edward and Pauline Violet (Oberlin) Hovenstine. He was married Jan. 27, 2000, to Jenny Ullom, who survives.

He had worked for Createc and FCC both in Portland. He was a graduate of Shikellamy High School and served with the US Army.

Surviving are his wife Jenny; four daughters, Alicia Revolt (fiance: Katherine Lines) of Fort Wayne, Nina Hovenstine of Pelzer, South Carolina, Nyree Lewis (husband: Damion “Mike”) of Portland and Tonya Waddups (husband: James) of Michigantown, Indiana; three sisters, Cindy Johnson, Linda Balestrini and Julie Knouse; stepmother Donna Faye; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Hundley presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #211. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
