Children's library day scheduled

Children are always welcome at the library, but Saturday will be special.

Fort Recovery Public Library will celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day during regular hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will include self-guided activities that will be free for children. They will focus on literacy and learning.

The library will also host its used book sale Feb. 4 through 9. Donations are still being accepted. For more information, call (419) 375-2869.

Activities set

Jay County Public Library has a variety of activities scheduled for February.

The library will celebrate “Love Your Library” month with an appreciation and promotion campaign that will offer weekly prize drawings.

Patrons to the library will have a card and receive one punch for a visit, checking out materials and attending a special program. Each full card will qualify for a prize drawing.

JCPL will also host an afternoon at the movies at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 8 with a showing of “Smallfoot.” Other events include a “crafternoon” Feb. 14, family trivia Feb. 15, a craft event Feb. 23 and a breakout game Feb. 27.

Learn options

Local students will have an opportunity to learn about an option for extending their education.

Ivy Tech Community College will hold two Go Ivy Day events this month.

The events are designed for prospective students to learn more about Ivy Tech. 

Topics will including admissions, financial aid, orientation and career services.

Events are slated for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 5 at Maring-Hunt Library, 2005 S. High St., Muncie, and 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 at Kennedy Library, 1700 W. McGalliard Road, Muncie.

Kid classes

A variety of classes are available to families that have young children or are preparing for the birth of a child.

Mercer Health in Coldwater, Ohio, is offering a weekend childbirth education class, baby massage classes and other offerings.

The weekend childbirth education class is slated for 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Baby massage classes are slated for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 and 14.
