Early this season, Catherine Dunn struggled to score more than 10 points.
She did it just twice in her first eight games. In the 13 games since, she’s finished in single digits on two occasions while setting a new career high and reaching a scoring milestone.
Dunn, a 2015 Jay County High School graduate, reached 1,000 career points for the Brescia University women’s basketball team on Saturday in its 75-67 win over Ohio Christian University.
The Bearcat senior scored 16 points on 3-of-11 shooting while going 10-for-12 from the free-throw line to finish second on the team in scoring. Dunn reached the millennium mark from the stripe, a place from which she is shooting 80 percent for the season.
The former Patriot scored 14 points on Jan. 24 as the Bearcats beat IU East 83-70, and chipped in 10 points Tuesday in a 76-60 setback to Asbury.
Dunn leads the Bearcats (8-15, 3-9 River States Conference) with 12.7 points per game. She averages 17.6 points in her last nine contests, including her career-best 27 points from Jan. 17. She is 32-of-76 from beyond the 3-point line, and her 42.1 shooting percentage from long range ranks 23rd in NAIA Division II.
Cady Farlow

Competed against an Olympic gold medalist as the Purdue University women’s swim team lost to No. 11 Indiana on Saturday, 187.5-110.5.
The senior was sixth in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. She had a time of 1 minute, 3.59 seconds in the former, and finished the latter in 2:19.08.
Indiana University’s Lilly King, a 2016 Olympic gold medalist in the 100-meter breaststroke, won both events against Farlow with her times of 1:01.12 and 2:14.03 respectively.
Farlow also swam the breaststroke leg of the Boilermakers’ 200 medley B relay. She had a split of 28.21 seconds as the relay was third in 1:42.61.

Earned Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference accolades as part of the University of the Cumberlands women’s swim team, the conference announced Tuesday.
The senior was one of nine members from the NAIA No. 2 Patriot swim team to earn the honor. She joined Kristi Burnette, Christina Klouda and Danielle Rehl as three-time recipients.
To be nominated, athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have completed at least one year at a college or university.

Totaled 12 points over two games as the University of Saint Francis women’s basketball team lost a pair of games recently.
The sophomore was 2-of-4 from the field for four points and grabbed three rebounds on Saturday in a 74-58 loss to Taylor University.
On Tuesday, she made three of her four field goals and both free-throw attempts as she finished with eight points. Will also hauled in three rebounds to go with a pair of assists as the Cougars (16-9, 8-5 Crossroads League) lost to Indiana Wesleyan 68-61.
Lexi Dellinger

Finished second in scoring for the Anderson University women’s basketball team on Saturday in a 74-63 setback to Earlham College.
The freshman point guard was 4-of-14 from the field, including 3-for-7 from the 3-point line, and made both of her free throws as she totaled 13 points. She had two rebounds and led all players with seven assists in a team-high 37 minutes.
Dellinger averages 15.1 points per game for the Ravens (9-10, 5-7 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference).
Alex Bader

Won her only two races on Saturday as the Ball State women’s swim team defeated Southern Illinois 191.5-108.5 and Indiana State 150-148.
The freshman beat the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with her time of 1 minute, 6.87 seconds, a victory of nearly a full second over Megan Schade of ISU.
She then had a time of 2:26.13 to take the top spot in the 200 breaststroke, edging ISU’s Anna-Maria Nasiou by less than a half second.
Sophie Bader

Was second in the 200-yard individual medley on Saturday for the Ball State women’s swim team against Southern Illinois and Indiana State.
The sophomore had a time of 2 minutes, 10.81 seconds, to finish as the runner-up. She was also third in the 100 butterfly, fourth in the 200 butterfly and swam the butterfly leg of the 200 medley C relay that was sixth.
Anne Vormohr
Jay County – 2017
Aided in winning 400-freestyle relay team as a member of the Ball State women’s swim squad in its pair of wins Saturday.
Vormohr joined Peighton Gilbert, Makenna Bottorff and Lexi McDonald to win the race in 3 minutes, 32.65 seconds. Vormohr swam the third leg and had a split of 53.36 seconds.
She was also sixth in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events, and handled the backstroke leg of the 200 medley B relay team that placed third.
Ashton Klopp
South Adams – 2017
Grabbed one victory and a runner-up finish for the University of Findlay women’s swim team as it dominated both Tiffin and Ursuline on Saturday.
The sophomore had a time of 32.85 seconds to win the 50-yard breaststroke. She was also second in the 200 backstroke.
Klopp swam the butterfly leg of the 200 medley A relay that was the runner-up, and handled the third leg of the 200 freestyle C relay which was second.

Also swam for the University of Findlay women’s swim team against Tiffin and Ursuline.
The sophomore helped the 200-yard medley B relay by swimming the backstroke as the quartet won with a time of 1 minute, 58.87 seconds.
She was third in the 50-yard breaststroke, two spots behind her twin sister, and had the same finish in the 200 backstroke. Klopp also placed fourth in the 200 individual medley.
Tyler Leonhard

Lost both of his matches for the Manchester University wrestling team as it competed in the Pete Wilson Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Wheaton College.
He dropped a 3-2 decision in his first match to Howie Olson of Elmhurst College. In the consolation bracket, Leonhard also came up short to Case Western Reserve’s Isaac Collier, again by a 3-2 decision.
The Spartans scored 61.5 points to finish 13th out of 38 scoring teams.
Hanna Ault

Came off the bench to score nine points for the Anderson University women’s basketball team in its loss Saturday to Earlham.
She was the first player off the bench and went 3-of-10 from the field. The freshman missed all three of her shots from distance and was 3-for-5 from the foul line to finish with nine points. Ault also had six rebounds and two assists.

Had a pair of third-place finishes for the Anderson University men’s swim team on Saturday in a 135-117 loss to Transylvania.
Campbell was third in the 200-yard freestyle, and had the same finish in the 100 freestyle. In the 50 freestyle, the freshman placed fourth.
