Possession
A Portland man was sentenced in Jay Circuit Court for a drug possession charge.
William P. Green, 32, 420 S. Western Ave., pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, on June 11. He was sentenced to three years in the Indiana Department of Correction with two years and six months suspended, to be served on formal probation. He was also given credit for time served from Feb. 15 to 17, March 5 to April 4 and from May 16. Green was assessed court costs of $185 and ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200. As part of a plea agreement, charges of unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, were dismissed.
Possession
A Portland man pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to a drug possession charge.
Kienon L. Sutton, 31, 225 E. Elder St., pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to Jay County Jail for one year with all but 60 days suspended and was given two days credit for one day served. The remaining time will be served on weekends. Sutton was assessed court costs of $185, placed on formal probation for 10 months and ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 and a substance abuse program fee of $400. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, was dismissed.
OWI
An Ossian woman pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to a felony-level intoxicated driving charge.
Katrina E. Danielson, 35, 11080 N. Indiana 1, Lot 39, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, enhanced to a Level 6 felony because of a prior conviction. She was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail and was given credit for time served from April 8. She was assessed court costs of $185.50 and ordered to pay an alcohol and drug countermeasures fee of $200. Charges of operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance or its metabolite in the body, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Pleads guilty
A Portland woman pleaded guilty to two charges in Jay Superior Court and had a third dismissed.
Terra S. Ogan, 37, 1499 N. 100 West, pleaded guilty to theft, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to Jay County Jail for one year with all but 90 days suspended and was given 90 days credit for 45 days served. She was fined $1, assessed court costs of $185 and placed on formal probation for nine months.
In a separate case, Ogan pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 150 days suspended and was given 150 days credit for 75 days served. She was fined $1, assessed court costs of $185, placed on formal probation for seven months and ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 and a substance abuse program fee of $400. As part of a plea agreement, charges of possession of a narcotic drug, unlawful possession of a syringe and maintaining a common nuisance — controlled substance, all Level 6 felonies, were dismissed.
A charge of possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, was also dismissed in a separate case against Ogan.
Scheduled
A Dunkirk woman’s trial has been scheduled in Jay Circuit Court.
Morgan S. Phillips, 22, 17700 N. Indiana 167, is facing charges of dealing a narcotic drug, a Level 5 felony, and dealing a Schedule IV controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. Her two-day jury trial has a first setting of Nov. 25, with Aug. 29 and Sept. 12 as back-up dates.
Man sentenced
A Dunkirk man was sentenced to prison in Jay Circuit Court.
Walter J. Newsome, 66, 2126 S. 800 West, pleaded guilty on May 15 to battery resulting in bodily injury to a public safety official and operating a motor vehicle after forfeiture of license for life, both Level 5 felonies. He was recently sentenced to four years in the Indiana Department of Correction for each charge, to be served concurrently.
