Planetarium show will honor mission
Fifty years ago, Neil Armstrong took one small step for man.
Charles W. Brown Planetarium at Ball State University will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the moon with the premier of its new program “Destination Mars: The New Frontier” at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The program will repeat at 4 p.m.
The program will reflect on the Apollo 11 mission and look at the future of human space flight. There will be hands-on activities for those 8 and older beginning at 2 p.m.

Supplies available
Local students can receive a free backpack filled with school supplies from a Portland store this weekend.
TCC, a Verizon retailer located at 922 N. Meridian St., will be hosting the giveaway from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Children will receive a backpack full of various school supplies, including pencils, a pencil box, paper, folders and glue.
The event is part of TCC’s annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway. The company has donated more than 950,000 backpacks since 2013.
Drive scheduled
The American Red Cross will have a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Fort Recovery American Legion Hall, 2490 Ohio 49.
