Pets will be the focus Aug. 17 at Hudson Family Park.
Midwest Pet Refuge will holds its Rock N Brew 4 Rescue event beginning at noon and continuing throughout the day.
The festivities will include a benefit ride to begin at 12:30 p.m. — registration starts at noon — to be followed by a hog roast beginning at 4 p.m. Jonah Keen Band will play from 4 to 7 p.m., and The Breakfast Club, a 1980s tribute band, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
Registration for the ride is $15, meals will be $6 and advance tickets to the concert are $10.

Cornerstone Center for the Arts’ new Muncie Altrusa Foundation Beulah Frogge Digital Arts Studio will have its grand opening Aug. 24 with a stop-motion workshop led by Disney artist and animator Brad Condie.
There will be a session from 1 to 3 p.m. for 8- to 11-year-olds and from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for 12- to 15-year-olds. All attendees will participate in creating a short film.

Jay School Corporation will hold registration at July 30 and Aug. 1 at all of its school buildings.
Registration on July 30 will run from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m. The Aug. 1 session will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Shows scheduled
Charles W. Brown Planetarium at Ball State University in Muncie will host free shows this summer.
The programs “Astronaut” and “Moons: Worlds of Mystery” will be held at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., respectively, on Friday, and Aug. 2 and 9.
