Summer shows set at planetarium
A series of free planetarium shows are scheduled for the summer.
Charles W. Brown Planetarium at Ball State University in Muncie will host free shows beginning June 7.
The “One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure” program will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 7, 21 and 28, and July 12. “Dawn of the Space Age” will be featured at 6:30 p.m. on the same dates.
The programs “Astronaut” and “Moons: Worlds of Mystery” will be held at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., respectively, on July 26, and Aug. 2 and 9.
Gathering set
The National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture will hold its Gather of Great Lakes Nations from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.Sunday at the Tri-State Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Association Grounds.
The event will feature Native American drums, singers and dancers, food, vendors, free children’s activities and demonstrations. There will be a hand drum and flute contest at noon Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday, and grand entries are scheduled for 1 and 6 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
Admission is $3 for those 12 and older, with a maximum of $12 per car. On-site camping is $10 per night.

On the list
Several area students have been named to the dean’s list.
Catherine Dunn, a senior communication sciences and disorders major from Portland was named to the dean’s list at Brescia University.
Making the dean’s list at Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne, were Deidre Marcum of Portland, and Tyler Smith and Kandis Thieme of Geneva.
