Carolyn Rickner

Carolyn Jean Rickner, age 78, of Portland passed away Sunday June 2, 2019, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

She was born in Portland on Sept. 11, 1940, the daughter of Robert and Evelyn Byrum. She was married April 4, 1959, to James Rickner and he died Dec. 21, 2013.

She had worked for Marsh Supermarkets for over 40 years.

Surviving are three sons, Robert Rickner of Muncie, Richard Rickner of Peru and Steve Rickner (wife: Gina) of Fisherville, Kentucky; one daughter, Donna Loden (husband: Anthony) of Portland; one sister, Wanda Derr of Greenville; sister-in-law Linda Byrum of Portland; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Byrum.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
