Girls dominate as Eels cruise in tri-meet
WINCHESTER — Three had a trio of wins. Four more had a pair.
The girls dominated.
Fort Recovery Eels got more than 80 percent of their wins from the girls Monday as they cruised to a first-place finish against Union City and host Randolph County.
The Eels, who got 29 of their 36 wins from the females, totaled 819 points, while host Randolph County was a distant runner-up with 401 points. Union City finished with 375 points.
Makenna Heitkamp, Audra Bubp and Teigan Fortkamp of Fort Recovery were each triple winners. Joelle Kaup, Kayden Ranly, Cassy Martin and Kiera Stump all had two wins apiece.
Girls getting individual victories were Olivia Albers, Autumn Burk, Livy Timmerman, Ava Bubp and Paige Fortkamp.
Fort Recovery claimed the top spot in 10 of the 14 relays. All but two of those wins were by the girls.
Drew Backs and Sage Wendel picked up two wins each for Fort Recovery, while Lucas Acheson had one victory.
Myers leads in win
Andrew Myers was 3-for-3, including a home run, in leading Flamespray Machine Service past Pioneer Packaging 12-4 Wednesday in Portland Junior League’s Rookie baseball action.
Roman Clamme also had three hits for Flamespray and was a home run shy of the cycle. Grant Fennig hit a pair of doubles and a single, Karson Schilling tripled and singled while Bentley Brunswick collected two singles.
Alex Huntsman was 2-for-2 with a double in the Pioneer loss. Tanner Day had tow hits, as Deric Coons, Lochland Mills and Blake Jellison contributed one hit each.
Inman squeaks by
Inman U-Loc squeaked by Portland Optimist 11-9 Wednesday in PJL’s Willie Mays division.
Gavin Byrum homered, singled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs in the win. Grant Wendel collected a triple, two singles, four RBIs and three runs. Nick Laux smacked a triple and a double, and Caleb Sibray doubled with three RBIs.
Dominick Bright knocked in four runs on a triple, a double and a single, and Shawn Harrell chipped in a pair of singles. Jayden Harrell recorded two RBIs.
Blowers powers PG
Leighton Blowers had a stellar offensive day for PG-14 in its 10-4 win against Lions Club in their PJL Willie Mays contest.
Blowers doubled, singled twice and registered five RBIs in the win. Nick Snow doubled and singled twice, and Izzy McAbee finished with two singles. Maddox Huffman hit a double.
Complete stats for Lions Club were not provided.
All-Circuit tops Barnett’s
All-Circuit Electrical totaled 20 hits, three apiece from four players, in a 15-8 win against Barnett’s Auto Parts on Wednesday in the Willie Mays division of PJL.
Logan Wendel, Brady Millspaugh, Corbin Butler and Bryar Garringer collected three hits each for All-Circuit. Wendel, Millspaugh and Garringer scored three runs each. Benson Armstrong had two hits and two runs.
Jack Osborne and Varen Ridgway of Barnett’s both had two hits and a pair of runs. Kenton Cochran, Kendall Glessner and Josh Brown tallied one hit and one run apiece.
