Minnetrista free for military families
From now until Labor Day, Minnetrista, in collaboration with Blue Star Museums, the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense, will be offering free admission to active duty military personnel, including those serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members.
More than 2,000 museums in all states and Puerto Rico have already taken part in the initiative.
The effort to recruit museums has involved partnerships with American Alliance of Museums, the Association of Art Museum Directors, the Association of Children’s Museums, the American Association of State and Local History, and the Association of Science-Technology Centers.
Those who qualify must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (department ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card to receive free admission.
Blue Star Families is a national, nonprofit network.
Their worldwide membership includes military spouses, children, parents, and friends, as well as service members, veterans, and civilians. To learn more about Blue Star Families, visit bluestarfam.org, or join them on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
