MIDLAND, Mich. — Anthony Contreras sits alone at the top.

Contreras set the record for most wins by a Fort Wayne manager as the TinCaps scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning Thursday to beat the Great Lakes Loons 6-0 at Dow Diamond.

In his fourth year leading the TinCaps, Contreras amassed 228 victories. He surpassed Doug Dascenzo, who managed from 2007-09.

After eight scoreless innings Thursday, the TinCaps (1-0, 33-35) broke the shutout on a bunt from Justin Lopez.

With runners on first and second and no outs, Lopez dropped down a bunt, and two throwing errors by the Loons, a Los Angeles?Dodgers affiliate, allowed all three runners to score.

Lee Solomon and Tucupita Marcano both hit RBI doubles later in the frame, and a wild pitch plated the game’s final run.

TinCap starter Joey Cantillo was lights out on the mound yet again. The 19-year-old Hawaiian struck out 10 batters, a season high for any Fort Wayne pitcher, and allowed just two hits and one walk over six innings.

Jose Quezada, Cody Tyler and Carlos Belen each threw one scoreless inning of relief, combining to give up one hit and strike out four.

Tyler earned the win.

Offensively, Blake Hunt hit his 12th double of the season, and Grant Little also had a two-bagger as he and Hunt finished with two hits apiece.

Luiz Almanzar also chipped in two hits, while Agustin Ruiz singled.

Fort Wayne and?Great Lakes (0-1, 43-25) continue their three-game series at 7:05 p.m. tonight.
