BERNE — The youngest girls and the oldest boys led the way.
The Jay County Summer Swim Team swept the 8-and-younger girls and 15-and-older boys events Tuesday as it defeated host South Adams 795-376.
The win improved the team to 4-0 on the season.
Four girls teamed up to set the pace in the 8-and-younger division, with Maria Laux taking first place in the individual medley and short freestyle while Kenna Arnold won the long freestyle and butterfly. Lila Wendel and Jordyn Champ added victories in the breaststroke and backstroke, respectively.
Chase McFarland took to the top spot in the 15-and-old boys backstroke and individual medley as well as the open 200 freestyle. Griffin Mann was first in the long freestyle and breaststroke, and Kyle Sanders won the butterfly and short freestyle.
Jay County, which won 18 of the 20 relays, also got three wins apiece from Ben Fisher (8-and-younger boys long freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke), Raif Beiswanger (9-10-year-old boys individual medley, breaststroke and short freestyle), Mara Bader (13-14-year-old girls butterfly and individual medley, and open 200 freestyle) and Eliza Bader (15-and-older girls butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle).
Earning two victories apiece for Jay County were Rockland Beiswanger, Creed Beiswanger, Jacob Monroe, Josh Monroe and Natalie Blakely.
Adding single wins were Karsen Kuhn, Tony Beiswanger, Lani Muhlenkamp, Morgan DeHoff, Emma LeMaster, Maddy Snow, Lauren Fisher, Matthew Fisher and Vivienne Kunkler.
