Flamespray and All Circuit Electrical earned another day on the diamond.

Flamespray pulled away from Barnett’s Auto Parts for a 14-4 win Wednesday in the Portland Junior League Rookie baseball tournament. All Circuit then defeated Pak-a-Sak 13-6 to advance in the tourney as well.

Grant Fennig set the pace for Flamespray with a home run and a double in his 3-for-3 effort. Karson Schilling was 2-for-3 with a home run, and Benton Langenkamp added two hits.

Kendall Glessner, Varen Ridgway and John Osborne each recorded two hits for Barnett’s in the loss.

All Circuit had three players combine to lead the offense, as Logan Wendel, Kohen Stephens and Brady Millspaugh all finished 3-for-3 with three runs. Corbin Butler added three hits and two runs.

Eli Homan had two hits and a pair of runs for Pak-a-Sak.



Loy takes title

Loy Real Estate and Auction won big first and then made every hit count in the nightcap as it captured the Portland Junior League Sandy Koufax title Wednesday.

Loy edged Dunkirk 6-5 in the championship game after cruising past Local 1620 11-1 earlier in the evening.

Sebastian Jone doubled and drove in two runs in the championship game for Loy, which tallied its six runs on six hits. Isaac Scott added a single and two RBIs, and Cam Hoover had a double and a single.

Nick Street had two hits, including a double, and an RBI for Dunkirk, which totaled eight hits.

Hoover powered Loy in the opener with a pair of doubles, a single and three RBIs. Qadon Ferrell notched two hits and an RBI, and Tarron Bentz recorded a single and a double.

Issac Miller had a single and an RBI for Local 1620.



Rally falls short

CENTERVILLE — The Portland Rockets attempted to rally in the final frame but came up a run short in a 4-3 loss to the Richmond Roosters at Centerville High School.

Portland trailed by three heading into the ninth, with Dustin Lewis recording a double to spark the offense. Jacob Morris added an RBI single in the frame, but the Rockets (2-6) left the potential tying run on third base.

Richmond scored all of its runs against Camden Pavey in the first inning. The Portland pitching was dominant the rest of the way, including Cody Krumlauf striking out 10 batters while allowing just three hits in five scoreless innings of relief.

Lewis paced the Rockets’ offense by finishing 3-for-5.

Portland will be back in action Friday as it travels north to take on the Fort Wayne Jackers.
