This season’s Arts Place concert series will have an international flavor.
Arts Place on Thursday announced its lineup for its 2019-20 Boundless Music Series, which will feature artists from Germany, Brazil, Finland and the Canary Islands.
Harris and Sonksen, featuring Jay County native Larry Harris, will kick off the series with a night of jazz music Oct. 12. Harris has performed in Chicago-area venues and backed up artists including Bob Hope and Aretha Franklin.
The rest of the music series schedule is as follows:
Nov. 1 — Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, acoustic guitarists
Jan. 11 — Duo Dolce, cello and piano
Feb. 8 — Ensemble 4.1, four wind solists and a pianist
Feb. 28 — International Guitar Night
April 3 — Dave Bennett’s “Swing To Rock: Benny, Elvis, and Jerry Lee”
Season tickets are $90 for adults and $60 for students. They are available at artsland.org, by calling (260) 726-4809 or by visiting Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St., Portland.
Photo contest
Photographers have a chance to win an RV rental as part of a national photo contest through America’s state parks.
The RV rental, provided by Outdoorsy, is part of $2,500 package that is the overall grand prize. Winners in five categories will receive a $500 REI gift card as well as a camping pillow. The categories are: activities, friends and family, camping, wildlife, and scenic and seasons.
Entries will be accepted through Sunday at americasstateparksphotocontest.reserveamerica.com. Winners will be announced in September.
Carnival set
Jay County Retirement Center will host a carnival from 2 to 6 p.m. June 29.
The event will feature a dunk tank with Portland Mayor Randy Geesaman and Jay County Commissioner Mike Leonhard as targets to get soaked.
Other attractions will include games, a bounce house, crafts, baked goods and a 50/50 drawing.
