Celebrate new Farmer’s Building
To the editor:
The Board of Directors of the Jay County Fair would like to invite everyone to the ribbon cutting and dedication of the “New Farmer’s Building” on Sunday, July 7, at 1:30 p.m.
Following the dedication, everyone is invited to take part in a pie auction and to enjoy some homemade ice cream.
The Farmer’s Building began its career as a livestock barn many years ago and has evolved into a place for free entertainment, contests and plain old visiting. The New Farmer’s Building includes a larger entertainment area where the annual Baby Contest will be held on Saturday, July 6. The space will also be used for free entertainment during the entire week of the fair, beginning on Saturday, July 6, with country singer Colton Chapman. Other Farmer’s Building entertainment during fair week includes Mix Factory, Musicletics, The Leftover Band, Seth Cook, Gabe Bailey and Rock Steady, Greg Rhoades, Debbie Bryson, Natalie Uhlenhake and the Big River Band. This building will also be headquarters for the Kids’ Day activities.
Be sure to take a look at the engraved bricks which will line the east wall of the new Farmer’s Building. These bricks were sold to raise funds for the continued improvement of the fairgrounds. Bricks will continue to be sold during the fair if you would like to add your name or the name of your business to this brick wall.
The 2019 Jay County Fair will run for a full eight days beginning on Saturday, July 6. Mark your calendars and plan to attend the ribbon cutting and dedication of the “New Farmer’s Building” at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 7.
We would like to thank the Jay County Commissioners and The Portland Foundation for their very generous assistance with this project. The Farmer’s Building will continue to be a focal point of the Jay County Fair for many years to come.
We look forward to seeing each one of you at the great Jay County Fair and hope you enjoy the New Farmer’s Building.

Chairperson for the Farmer’s Building activities
