Richard Ridenour

Richard L. “Yogg” Ridenour, 68, of Portland, Indiana, passed away on March 1, 2019, at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 7, 1950, in Willshire, Ohio, the son of the late Paul R. Ridenour and the late Edna M. (Meyers) Ridenour. Richard was united in marriage to Jayne Suman on Dec. 5, 1970, in the United Brethren in Christ Church in Willshire, Ohio.

He was a member of the Little Salamonia Christian Church in Portland, Indiana. Yogg was also a member of the sheriff’s reserves in Jay and Adams counties.

Yogg had been employed by United Telephone Company and Embarq as a service tech. He retired after 37 years of service.

Yogg loved to garden and grow vegetables. He loved to mow and play his harmonica. 

Survivors include his wife, Jayne Ridenour of Portland, Indiana; three sons, Chad (Brandy Daniels) Ridenour of Albany, Indiana, Brad Ridenour of Peru, Indiana, and Adam (Kelli) Ridenour of Portland, Indiana; two sisters, Sheryl (Max) Knittle of Willshire, Ohio, and Aleta Ridenour of Wapakoneta, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Jordan, Ashten, Abbi, Grayson, Macey (Nick) Alexa, Liam, Jose, Kadin and Haley; one great-grandchild, Phoenix.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Ridenour.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, with Pastor Adam Ridenour officiating. Interment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery in Willshire, Ohio.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Little Salamonia Christian Church.
