It’s time to audition.

Jay County Civic Theatre will hold auditions for its production of the musical “Newsies” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St., Portland.

The show is based on the true story of the 1899 newsboys strike in New York City and the 1992 movie by the same name. It offers roles for actors of all ages, with a focus on boys in middle school through college.

Those auditioning will be asked to read lines from the show and sing about 30 seconds of the song of their choice. Callbacks will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, also at Arts Place.

The show will be directed by Jason McGraw. Reid Knuth is the musical director, and Mackenzie Billington is the choreographer.
