Law enforcement and school officials investigated a threat against Jay County High School Friday morning.

According to a report from superintendent Jeremy Gulley, Jay Schools received a tip on its anonymous reporting system that a student had a gun. The male student was intercepted by Jay County Sheriff’s Office and school officials before arriving at the high school and was searched. He did not have a weapon, and it was determined that the threat was unfounded. Disciplinary measures will be taken.

On Thursday, Portland Police Department investigated a different threat by another male student. According to a police report, officers interviewed the student and made sure he did not have access to firearms. The matter will also be dealt with by the school.

High school principal Chad Dodd said the school corporation investigates each tip it receives on the Say Something anonymous reporting system.
