Library will be offering new games
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
February was Love Your Library Month at Jay County Public Library.
This popular program, which is now in its second year, rewarded patrons with a punch on their punch card each time they came in and used the library.
When a card was filled up with punches, patrons were then able to enter in raffles for weekly prizes for adults and children.
As an added twist this year, each filled card gave patrons an opportunity to vote between three different options for a new library service or resource.
The options this year were new furniture on the children’s side of the building, a charging station for mobile devices and a collection of outdoor games that can be checked out.
I am pleased to announce that a collection of outdoor games won the patron vote by a solid margin. More than 500 votes were cast during the month-long voting.
The outdoor games will soon be added to our collection — probably just in time for the weather to turn warm — and individually available for patrons to check out.
The games included are: Bocce Ball, Cornhole, Kan-Jam, Ladder Toss, Croquet, Giant Checkers, Large Dice Game, Score Four, Spike Ball and Giant Jenga.
I invite you to check in with us to see when these games are ready and then get set to have fun this spring and summer with them.
Thank you to all in this community who love their library.
