FORT RECOVERY — The Indians had difficulty at the plate on Tuesday.
The losing skid got one game longer.
Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team didn’t have a runner reach third base on Tuesday in a 5-0 loss to the New Bremen Cardinals.
New Bremen (13-4, 5-2 Midwest Athletic Conference) scored the eventual game-winning run in the third inning before adding two runs in each of the fifth and seventh frames for the shutout.
The Indians (9-7, 4-3 MAC), who have now lost three in a row and five of their last seven games, never managed to get a base runner 90 feet from home.
Joe Homan had a leadoff single in the second inning but he was left stranded. Riley Post and Ian Homan singled to start the fourth, but a double play and a strikeout halted the threat. In the sixth inning, a single and a walk gave Fort Recovery two runners on again before an infield fly and a double play marked the end of the potential rally.
Patrick Wells doubled and singled for the Cardinals.
Post took the loss for the Indians, allowing one earned run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked four and struck out four.
