Thelma Phillips

Thelma M. Phillips, age 92, a former resident of Portland, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, in Goodyear, Arizona.  

Thelma was born on Sept. 19, 1926, in Randolph County, Indiana, the daughter of Ray and Stella (Newton) Prescott.

She was a member of Collett Church of the Nazarene.

Thelma married Elvin Phillips Sr. on Aug. 15, 1947, and he passed away on Nov. 15, 2012.  

Survivors include:

One son — Larry Phillips – Waddell, Arizona

One daughter — Linda Timmons (husband: Ronnie), Lynchburg, Virginia 

Two sisters — Ruth Bowser (husband: Ed), Anderson, Indiana, and Sylvia Ditmar, Union City, Ohio 

Ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Elvin Phillips Jr.; five sisters and one brother.  

Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Bluff Point Cemetery, south of Portland.
