COLDWATER, Ohio — Natalie Brunswick won two races on Thursday for the Fort Recovery Middle School girls track team in the Mercer County Meet at Coldwater.
St. Henry won the meet with 116.5 points, and Fort Recovery was fifth with 56 points.
Marion Local’s boys took home the title with a commanding 204 points. Fort Recovery totaled 43 points for fifth.
Brunswick finished with a time of 5 minutes, 28.66 seconds, to win the 1,600-meter run. She was also first in the 800 run in 2:31.56.
Abby Knapke, Megan Diller and Alexis Wendel teamed with Brunswick to win the 4x400 relay in 4:37.84.
Golfers win
Jay County’s middle school golf team took first place on Thursday in a three-team meet with Winchester and Monroe Central at Portland Golf Club.
A score of 215 took home the victory, as Winchester totaled 265 and Monroe Central placed third with 277.
Caleb DeRome led Jay County by shooting 43, which earned him match medalist honors. Brock DeHoff was second on the Patriot squad with 56, and Patrick Hemmelgarn was one stroke behind. Bretton Basford shot 59 to complete the Patriots’ team score.
Isaac Miller’s score of 67 did not factor into the squad’s overall total.
Williams tops All-Circuit
Williams Auto Parts picked up a 3-1 win over All-Circuit Electrical on Thursday in Rookie baseball action of Portland Junior League.
Dustin Franks collected two hits and an RBI in the win for Williams, which also got a pair of hits from Jace Vance. Kellan Keys and Javier Casillas both had one hit and an RBI, while Easton Sprunger contributed a single.
Stats for All-Circuit were not provided.
