Emmett Walter Jr.
Emmett Walter Jr., age 88, a resident of Muncie and a former Jay County resident, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at the V.A. Hospital in Marion.
He retired from Teledyne Portland Forge and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
Emmett Walter was born June 24, 1930, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Emmett and Irene (Bye) Walter Sr. He was married on Dec. 31, 1967, to Georgia Walker.

His beloved wife of 51 years — Georgia Walter, Muncie, Indiana
One daughter — Tricia Walter, Muncie, Indiana
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Crosby.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.
Graveside services follow at Center Cemetery, west of Portland. Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military graveside rites at the cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Marion VA Palliative Care Services.
