KENTON, Ohio — The Indians were in a big hole early Saturday.
They rallied, but fell behind again.
The Tribe came back a second time.
Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team rallied twice Saturday to beat the Kenton Wildcats, 10-6.
After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, the Indians (10-8) tied the score in the top of the fourth, but the Wildcats re-took a 5-4 lead in the home half of the inning. Fort Recovery tied it yet again in the top of the fifth, and grabbed a comfortable 9-5 lead in the sixth for the win.
Garrett Faller and Ian Homan both doubled and singled, and Faller drew a pair of walks. Regan Martin and Riley Will both knocked a pair of singles.
Ryne Post, Riley Post, Will and Martin all had RBIs.
Riley Post earned the win in relief. He allowed two earned runs on four hits, walked three and struck out 10 in 6 1/3 innings after Kody Shinabery failed to record an out.
Tribe routs ’Skins
ST. HENRY, Ohio — An early lead and a late push gave the Fort Recovery softball team a 13-2 rout of the St. Henry Redskins on Saturday.
The Indians (12-10, 4-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) had a 2-1 lead after the first inning, and pushed the margin to 8-1 at the end of the fourth inning.
The Redskins (2-15, 1-6 MAC) scored for the last time in the bottom of the sixth inning ahead of a five-run seventh for Fort Recovery.
Hannah Knapke doubled as the Tribe’s only extra-base hit. Rachel Thien drove in six runs on three singles, and Jackie Homan knocked in a pair of runs on two singles.
Brenna Homan finished with three singles and an RBI, and Macy Shinabery added two singles.
Jackie Homan got the win pitching. She gave up two runs — one earned — on eight hits and struck out nine.
FR blasts Kenton
KENTON, Ohio — An eight-run third inning carried the Fort Recovery junior varsity baseball team to a 14-1 win against the Kenton Wildcats on Saturday in five innings.
The Indians (5-7) led 3-0 after the first inning and broke the game wide open two frames later. Kenton notched its only run in the fourth before Fort Recovery plated three more runs in the fifth.
Kendrick Wendel paced the Indians with two doubles, a single and four RBIs. Marcus Gaerke contributed two singles and two RBIs, while Cole Grisez knocked in three runs on a double.
Derek Locthefeld, Brock Dues and Korbin Dues also doubled.
Locthefeld earned the win, allowing one earned run on one hit.
He struck out five and walked one.
