GRAND CHUTE, Wis. — The streak has been snapped.
The Fort Wayne TinCaps rode strong pitching and an early lead on Monday to end a four-game losing streak with a 4-1 win against the Wisconsin?Timber Rattlers at Fox Cities Stadium.
The TinCaps (13-17), who have lost eight of their last 10 games, grabbed a 2-0 lead over the Timber Rattlers (Milwaukee Brewers) during the first inning. Grant Little singled with one out, and Wisconsin center fielder Korry Howell misplayed a single off the bat of Justin Lopez that allowed Little to score and Lopez to reach third. Dwanya Williams-Sutton hit a sacrifice fly to score Lopez.
Xavier Edwards’ RBI single in the third scored Jawuan Harris for a 3-0 TinCap advantage.
The Timber Rattlers (12-17) got their lone run in the third inning.
Ramon Perez started for Fort Wayne, giving up one run on three hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks in 4 1/3 innings. Dan Dallas and Cody Tyler threw 4 2/3 combined innings of scoreless relief.
Game two of the series is slated for 7:35 p.m. tonight. It is the second of a nine-game road trip for the TinCaps.
