Building permits clear $1.3 million
Permits were issued in April by the Jay/Portland Building and Planning Office for $1.3 million in new construction.
The largest project was a $400,000 barn being built by Marvin Muhlenkamp Farms Inc. at 7637 E. 600 North.
Other permits were issued to Dilcia Ruiz and Taqueria El Agave Azul for a $25,000 restaurant and remodeling project at 605 N. Meridian St., Portland; Richard Gierhart for an $11,000 building addition at 9931 W. 400 South; John Overman for a $65,000 grain bin at 5605 E. 100 South; James David Rinker for a $60,000 shop building at 9775 W. 200 South; Aaron Loyd for an $18,000 barn at 1720 W. 450 South; Ryan Amstutz for an $85,000 grain bin at 3157 E. 800 North; Brady Bergman for a $100,000 shop and storage building at 7537 E. 50 North; and Mike Timmerman for a $70,000 grain bin at 6825 S. 325 West.

A temporary business occupancy permit was issued to Kayla Darby for Deer Park Boutique, 112 E. Main St., Portland.
