Loy’s got a shutout in the first game. They came up short in the second.
Loy’s Realty split a doubleheader Monday in Portland Junior League’s Sandy Koufax division.
It defeated Local 1620 by a 16-0 score in the first game, and lost to Dunkirk 11-1 in game two.
Cam Hoover hit two doubles and scored three times for Loy’s against Local 1620. Tarron Bentz and Isaac Scott were both 2-for-2 and scored twice.
Bentz hit a home run in the loss against Dunkirk as his team’s lone hit.
Corey Lennington, Curtis Sullivan, Tommy Adkins, Aiden Stephens and Hayden Hardman had one hit each for Dunkirk.
Kaleb Ilam had the only hit for Local 1620.
May leads Berne
Natalie May had three singles to lead First Bank of Berne past Jay County Therapeutics 14-5 on Monday in Minor softball action.
Emily Young chipped in a pair of singles, while Rose Carter and Brenna Brewster both singled as well.
Jayme Wagner doubled for Jay County Therapeutics, and Lizzy Brunswick singled.
Fisher edges Crossroads
Fisher Meats edged Crossroads Financial Federal Credit Union by a 9-8 margin on Monday in Minor softball.
Nevaeh Armstrong doubled in the win for Fisher. Calie Yates singled and Chloe Byrum drove in a run.
Jordan Hutzler finished with a double, and Hallie Schwieterman singled in the Crossroads loss.
Game ends in tie
A Rookie baseball game between Williams Auto Parts and Barnett’s Auto Parts ended in a 6-6 tie Monday.
Jaxler Casillas, Kellan Keys and Draven Eley all had three hits for Williams. Easton Sprunger recored two singles.
John Osborne ripped three hits for Barnett’s, as Varen Ridgway, Oakland Ingram and Josh Brown had two hits apiece. Brown also had two RBIs.
All-Circuit wins
All-Circuit Electrical grabbed a 6-3 win against Flamespray Machine Services in Rookie baseball action Saturday.
Bryor Garringer was 3-for-3 with a pair of runs, and Brady Millspaugh finished 2-for-3 wth a pair of runs. Logan Wendel and Benson Armstrong had two hits each, as Kohen Stephens chipped in a hit.
Andrew Myers led Flamespray with three hits, and Mitchell Byrum collected a pair of hit. Bentley Brunswick, Bryce VanSkyock and Eli Westgerdes all singled.
Three pace Homestead
Three players all had three hits for Homestead Quality Bedding as it defeated Jay County REMC on Saturday in their Rookie softball matchup.
Boo Towell, Kyla Sims and Bailey Towell collected three hits each for Homestead, which got two hits as well from Saige Winget.
Karsyn Schwieterman, Kenady Lyons, Charlee Peterson, Alivya Schwieterman and Ashlynn Brunswick had one hit apiece for REMC.
