Gary Pusey

Gary L. Pusey, age 75, a resident of Portland, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Gary was a 1961 graduate of Portland High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and Portland American Legion Post 211. He was an agent with Prudential Insurance Company serving Jay and Randolph counties. 

Gary Pusey was born June 22, 1943, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Earl and Ethel Mae (Via) Pusey. He was married Feb. 22, 1992, to Marsha Rheinhart. She passed away May 15, 2019.

Survivors include:

One son — Chad Pusey (wife: Mary Lou), Oblong, Illinois

One daughter — Sherri Davis, Portland

One son — Rick Shannon (wife: Kim), Portland

Seven grandchildren — Codie Pusey, Alexis Pusey, Lyndee Lou Pusey, Erica Pusey, Logan Hawkins, Alesha Cumins and Loren Polley

Eleven grandchildren

Twenty-five great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ethel Mae Pusey; a son, Scott Pusey; a step-son, Michael Shannon; and a sister, Phyllis Tobias.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Hugh Kelly will officiate and burial will follow in the Saratoga Cemetery in Randolph County. Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military rites at the cemetery.
