Injured
A Portland woman complained of pain in her chest following a one-car accident about 9:50 p.m. Friday on county road 400 South near county road 1000 West.
Cierra M. Rockwood, 24, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was westbound on county road 400 South in her 2005 Pontiac when she fell asleep at the wheel.
The car went off the south side of the roadway and struck a fence post. The driver then overcorrected and the car went off the north side of the road before coming to a stop in a ditch.
Damage was estimated between $2,50 and $5,000.
Rear-ended
Between $2,500 and $5,000 in damage was reported when a car struck the rear of a pick-up truck about 3:25 p.m. Friday at Indiana 26 and Indiana 67 west of Portland.
Hunter E. Harrison, 18, rural Portland, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he had stopped at the intersection facing east and was waiting to enter traffic on Indiana 67 when the 1988 Ford F250 he was driving was hit from behind by a 2013 Chrysler driven by Franklin G. Crump, 16, Dunkirk.
The Chrysler is registered to Brian McGalliard, Dunkirk, and the pick-up is registered to Brian L. Garringer, rural Portland.
Hits deer
A 2005 Pontiac driven by Douglas L. Scholl, 55, Union City, struck a deer about 10:40 p.m. Saturday on State Line Road near county road 900 South in Madison Township.
Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Backing mishap
Cars driven by a Portland woman and a Bryant woman collided while backing in the Circle K South parking lot, Meridian and Seventh streets, about 3:55 p.m. Saturday.
Damage to a 2006 Buick driven by Cassie C. Miller, 20, Bryant, and a 2012 GMC Acadia driven by Claudia C. Macias, 48, Portland, was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
