Minnetrista market moving indoors
Taking Note
It’s time to move indoors.
The Farmers Market at Minnetrista in Muncie has finished its outdoor season and will be moving indoors, beginning this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
The indoor market in the Cantina and the Indiana Room will feature many of the vendors who are familiar to those who have visited the Minnetrista market in the summertime.
The indoor market will run every third Saturday through April.
Auction time
The 37th annual Holiday Benefit Auction at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St., Portland, is set for Friday, Nov. 22.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the bidding will start at 6 p.m.
Proceeds from the auction help support programs such as Arts in the Parks, ArtWorks, MusicWorks, the performance series and more.
Among the items donated for the auction are a tour of Versailles Winery with dinner for 12, tickets to an Indianapolis Colts game and tickets to a Mannheim Steamroller concert.

Upstart time
Indiana families can pre-register their four-year-olds for UPSTART, a free online kindergarten-readiness program for low-income families, now through Friday, Nov. 15, according to a press release from State Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle).
The Indiana General Assembly helped make UPSTART available in Indiana during the 2017 legislative session by passing House Enrolled Act 1004.
That act authorized funds for a technology-based, in-home early education program.
Through UPSTART, children are taught early reading, math and science through instructional hours, lessons, activities, books and animated songs.
Participants follow their own personalized learning path, but must use the program at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week the year before entering kindergarten.
For more information on the UPSTART program and to find out if your family qualifies, visit waterfordupstart.org/how-it-works or call 800-669-4533.
Fun night set
Jay Community Center’s Family Fun Night is set for Friday, Nov. 15, beginning at 6 p.m.
Mark’s Ark will be on hand with a live animal demonstration. There will also be pizza, balloon animals and face painting.
Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the food bank.
Family Fun Night is sponsored by the Portland Rotary Club, Portland Optimists, the Portland Lions Club, Delta Theta Tau sorority, Cincinnatus League and CrossRoads Financial Federal Credit Union.
