CONVOY, Ohio — Holly Gann wanted her team to have a scorer’s mentality.
That attitude came alive in the fourth quarter Friday.
After scoring 32 points in the first three quarters, the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team posted a 24-4 advantage in the fourth to pull away from the host Crestview Knights for a 56-39 victory.
The Indians (1-0)?trailed 12-6 at the end of the first quarter and were still down by three heading into the fourth. Then, they found their offense.
Kierra Wendel hit two 3-pointers as she scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the final period. Val Fortkamp, Brooke Kahlig and Alli Vaughn added four apiece as FRHS pulled away.
Vaughn followed Wendel with a dozen points for the game. Kahlig scored eight, and Paige Fortkamp and Muhlenkamp each had seven.
Olivia Cunningham posted 21 points for the home team, but no other Knights reached double figures.
