Feel the Warmth on Monday
Taking Note
Dunkirk’s annual Feel the Warmth of Christmas event is set for Monday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. downtown.
Santa will arrive about 5:30 p.m. and visit with local youngsters at Pizza King until 7 p.m.
Free hot chocolate will be served by Sigma Phi Gamma sorority at Pizza King from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and there will be hot chocolate and cookies at the Dunkirk City Building from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Miller’s Dunkirk Pantry will also be serving hot chocolate, and a number of other businesses will also be open.
Dunkirk Public Library and The Glass Museum will host its first “Christmas at the Museum” event from 6 to 8 p.m.
The museum will be open and free of charge to the community. Volunteers will be serving coffee and hot chocolate and holding a drawing for three different gift baskets.
Also on Monday, children can drop off their letters to Santa Claus at the library, and Santa will send a response.
Open house
A Christmas open house is planned at the Jay County Retirement Center on Sunday, Dec. 8, from noon to 5 p.m. with refreshments and a visit from Santa.
Luminaria
The Enchanted Luminaria Walk at Minnetrista in Muncie is set for Dec. 6 and 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. each night
“Enchanted Luminaria Walk is one of my favorite events to work here at Minnetrista,” said discovery and engagement manager Ashley Mann. “It’s our gift to the community and there are so many amazing opportunities for family fun and memory making. The excitement and joy is palpable. It is a great way to kick off the holiday season.”
Visitors can enjoy sweet treats, winter crafts, carriage rides, music by local artists, and more in celebration of the season at this free community event.
The event is supported by Magna. In partnership with Unified Group Services and MITS.
Info session
An informational planning seminar on Medicaid will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Miller’s Merry Manor, 11563 W. 300 South, Dunkirk.
Information will be presented by the Fort Wayne elder law firm of Beers Mallers Backs and Salin.
Reservations are required and must be made by Dec. 6 by calling (765) 768-7537.
Jazz in Blackford
Muncie’s Hometown Band Jazz Quartet will perform at the Blackford County Arts Center of Arts Place on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m..
There will be live jazz, desserts, wine, beer, and coffee. The cost per person is $25. Advance only tickets are available for this event.
No tickets will be sold at the door, and the audience is limited to 50 people.

The Artifices Luminis Chapter of the Low Twelve Riders will be sponsoring a used toy drive from 8 a.m. to noon on Dec. 7 at Jay F. & A.M. Lodge 87 in Portland.

Tickets went on sale Friday, Nov. 22, for a 2020 performance by BlackHawk and Sawyer Brown at the Mercer County Fairgrounds in Celina, Ohio.
The concert is set for Friday, Aug. 14.
