Found guilty
A Dunkirk woman was found guilty of two charges by a jury in Jay Circuit Court.
Tessa Stevens, 40, 309 W. Washington St., was found guilty of neglect of a dependent, a Level 5 felony, and maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony. The jury returned no verdict on the charge of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony. The court declared a mistrial for the dealing charge.
In a separate case, Stevens is facing charges of aiding, inducing or causing dealing methamphetamine, a Level 4 felony, and maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony. She is scheduled to have a two-day jury trial for those charges on Dec. 30.
The parties involved in the case were not opposed to adding the dealing methamphetamine charge to the December trial. Stevens waived her right to be sentenced within 30 days for the neglect and nuisance charges.
Burglary
An Albany man pleaded guilty in Jay Circuit Court to burglary, a Level 5 felony.
Tyler S. Cox, 33, 492 N. Delaware St., was sentenced to four years in the Indiana Department of Correction and was given credit for time served from Feb. 9 to 14, March 21 to 23, April 8 to 17, May 16, and from July 20. He was assessed court costs of $185 and fined $15. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of theft, a Class A misdemeanor, was dismissed.
